Be sure to come back next week for something cool. Remember, the first Monday in July will have a new embroidery pattern and there may also be a paper piecing quilt pattern in the works for July as well!
Here's another ATC. I made this for a swap on ATCsForAll. I was tired of drawing the usual fair-haired lovely maiden kind of angels and wanted to go for something different. The celtic cross tattoo over his heart is my favorite part of this picture. I had a lot of fun with the sky and experimented with masking fluid to keep his wings snowy white.

I made this ATC, after delving into some steampunk fiction. Who is she? I don't know. I just had an image of ridiculous shiny golden hair in coiled ringlets, Victorian collars and puffy sleeves, but not too prim. A corset reinforced with mixed metals and a leather apron to protect her nice blue dress from whatever concoctions she might be mixing up. She's inked with Zig Millenium pens and colored with watercolors. I traded her away on ATCs for All.
Along the steampunk vein, if you like to read a good steampunk novel, then can I recommend the work of independent author, Lindsay Buroker? I've been reading her books for a while and I'm both impressed and entertained with her work. Be sure to check back next week for a new embroidery pattern. Any requests? This is another ATC (Artist Trading Card) that I made for a swap on ATCsForAll. The challenge for the swap was a black and white drawing with just a pop of red. I love making layered clothing in drawings. I just wish I could make layers look better on me.
Come back next week for a new cross stitch design! This is another one of my early ATCs. I used Acrylic paint but thinned it down and applied it in the style of a watercolor. I love the gown with its multi-colored layers ranging from deep blue to the palest red. In my mind's eye, the blue fabric is heavy and structural and each underlayer is progressively lighter weight and more fluid.
This card is still in my collection awaiting a good trade. Next week I'll be posting a new Cros The costumes I'm making for my little ones aren't ready yet. They're not even fancy. I've just got too many irons in the fire like usual. And for some reason my little laddies are under the impression that a kilt is a girl thing. I acquired Brave, let the bra
So this week, I've decided to share another drawing/painting. This is another ATC. I still have this guy in my collection waiting for a good trade offer to roll in. It's not one of my favorites, but I like his tattoos and his hair color. Next week is a new Cross Stitch Pattern! I wanted to create an angel that deviated from the standard of pretty girls with serene smiles and fat cherubs with dimples. What if an angel had tattoos or dressed a little different? What if an angel wasn't all sweetness and light. This angel could be fulfilling a different kind of divine mission. Though not likely smiting in Old Testament style, this angel may need to realign someone's perspective in a slightly harsh way.
I painted this as an ATC (Artist Trading Card) using acrylic paint with a watercolor style, using my favorite art pens for the black lines. I still have the original of this one since I haven't found a trade tempting enough to let go of it. It's really one of my favorite ATCs. Next week I'll be posting a new hand embroidery pattern. A few years ago, I stumbled across something called Artist Trading Cards (ATCs). Essentially they are miniature works of art. They measure 2.5" by 3.5" (the size of a regular trading card). While they were started by collage artists, I prefer miniature drawings and paintings. I've swapped on Craftster and on ATCsForAll. I also occasionally sell them on Etsy.
