It's the first Monday of the month so that means it's time for a new embroidery pattern!
This pattern was inspired by Maori designs. It incorporates multiple elements:
The circle of life which includes the path of life ever ongoing, with no beginnings and no end.
Koru (Spiral) is the symbol of new growth, new life, peace and tranquility.
To work in the Pikorua (Twist), a powerful statement of loyalty, friendship & love, the outer circle of the pattern is meant to be stitched as a herringbone ladder stitch.
This pattern includes some guidance on how to do the herringbone ladder stitch and provides links to some of my favorite tutorials. The pattern itself is included in four different sizes ranging from about 4.5 inches down to 2.5 inches (you would need to stitch the smallest size using only a strand or two of floss).
The pattern is available on Craftsy and Etsy.
